★★★★★

Sedecki is an endearing character with self-deprecating humor and I thoroughly enjoyed reading his conversations with himself and following his journey to Christ. The audiobook was a pleasant surprise.

I have attempted one other book in Audible recently and had a hard time with the voice of the reader, so I stopped. I found this to be different with Sedecki's Dilemna on Audible. The reader, Casey Claiborne, has an easy-to-listen-to voice, with a very likable and friendly tone. I thoroughly enjoyed listening and picked up different things I missed in the first reading. Worth the listen!

A Walk in the Rain “Biblical Truth Entwined to a True-to-Life Story That Is Not Preachy” Right away I felt vested in each character. I was sad that I know this is how alcohol abuse and addiction is so prevalent in families as well as domestic abuse. I liked that the author captured each family member handling and reacting differently in their grief. This was true in my own family as we have had to survive the suicide of my eldest son. I can personally identify with the story's eldest son, Derrick. He seems the one who feels he must and does the most to hold the family together in this devastating ordeal. For those that have suffered so much at the hands of individuals that are supposed to love and protect, who struggle to believe in a God that loves each of us immeasurably. The author did a wonderful job rebuking Satan's lies by quoting scripture and with truth through God's inspired words -the Bible. The author also did this through the Christian lives of his written characters, Mrs. Robillard, Rhett and Reba. I loved the surprise I felt with the twist the story took. Another great read by this author!

A Walk in the Rain “Another Wonderful Writing” Picking up where he felt off with Sedecki's Dilemma, Mark again has put together another wonderful book with extremes on both sides of the emotional scale. Wonderfully crafted from the beginning to the end. I felt like I was living in that house with those boys. Tearfully enjoyed Mark’s first book Sedecki’s Dilemma and not ashamed to say tearfully enjoyed A Walk in the Rain. A must read!

Axel Shrugged “Praise for Axel Shrugged” Mark Geiser has done it again! This author has a gift for drawing the reader into the story as well as the hearts, thoughts and lives of his characters. He deals honestly with the consequences of choosing sin and rebellion, but with compassion, grace, forgiveness and even humor. We’re reminded that we’re all sinners in need of the Savior. I laughed and cried throughout the story, but in the end was left encouraged and hopeful. I’m already looking forward to his next book!

Question

What inspired you to write this book, and what message or theme do you hope readers take away?

I have always wanted to write Christian Fiction. Jesus changed my life and I want everyone who reads my books to be blessed by Him as well. I can’t say what brought about the idea for Sedecki’s Dilemma, my first novel, to mind. I just started writing. The same goes for A Walk in the Rain and my newest, Axel Shrugged. Sedecki’s Dilemma won the Ignite the Fire contest in 2004 in the Marriage/Romance category.

Question

How would you describe Axel Shrugged to someone discovering it for the first time?

I started Axel Shrugged around twenty-five years ago, packed it away in a box, and rediscovered it last year. It was a labor of love to write. The story is about 17 year old Axel Wisterman, who rebels against his parents and God. He runs away to San Francisco where he thinks he is free at last. Instead, he meets the world head on and it isn’t a pretty ride. But God has plans for Axel. Life is not always easy. We are not promised that. Axel walks through some rough valleys, but in the words of Corrie ten Boom, “No pit is so deep, that He is not deeper still.” Actually, that is the theme for all three books.

Question

What was the most meaningful or challenging part of your writing or self-publishing journey?

Confidence. Self publishing can be rough. Tag, you are it when it comes to promoting and marketing, but you can’t give up. When I get discouraged, I have to practice what I preach, and trust Him for the outcome. I promote in little ways. I will never make the New York Times Bestseller List but just pray the books bless all who read them.

Question

Did faith, hope, or personal reflection influence your storytelling in this book?

What influences me to write? I have always been a voracious reader and always wanted to write a book. As I stated my first effort was Axel Shrugged, but I must not have been satisfied with it because it was only partially done and then put away. After retirement, I became serious and Sedecki’s Dilemma was born. I was so naive! The first edition was riddled with mistakes. So many copies went out and I had to wear a bag over my head so no one would recognize me. (Not really) But you live and learn, and the greatest thrill is receiving your first copies in a box and opening it and seeing it for the first time. Quite thrilling. Faith, hope and reflection are a part of every book. I just want readers to love Jesus more because of the stories He has given me.

Question

What would you like readers—and fellow writers—to know or feel after reading your work?

I want readers to feel the presence of the Lord. Especially when they finish and reflect on the characters and their journey. My novels are not necessarily “feel good” books. The characters are not too good to be true. They are humans with flaws, but at the end they are filled with the knowledge and the goodness of God through Jesus Christ.
